Due to their challenging financial circumstances, Everton is “majorly” in risk of suffering yet another points deduction the following season, sources have told Football Insider.
Senior writer Pete O’Rourke stated on the most recent episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast that he doesn’t think the Toffees’ profit and sustainability (PSR) levies will go away very soon.
Due to two different points reductions this season for breaking the Premier League’s spending regulations, Everton has lost eight points in total.
The Blues will face another independent committee hearing later this year and are currently at odds with the governing body over the status of some costs related to the construction of their new stadium on Bramley-Moore Dock.
This summer, Everton might have to sell some of its best players.
O’Rourke acknowledged that concerns exist regarding the Toffees’ financial status following the club’s receipt of a more than £200 million loan from potential owners 777 Partners to cover ongoing operating expenses.
However, Football Insider disclosed on May 10 that despite prolonged negotiations at Goodison Park, the US investment firm’s buyout will not go through.
After the club flirted with the relegation zone for several months due to sanctions this season, Merseysiders will be worried about a potential further points loss.
A turn around in performance towards the conclusion of the season has guaranteed Sean Dyche’s team a spot in the top league come August.
