Out-of-contract QPR man confirms talks with club

QPR FC | Asmir Begović completes QPR move

Asmir Begovic has confirmed he is in discussions for a new contract with QPR.

West London Sport recently reported that Begovic, who will turn 37 later this month, is negotiating another deal at Loftus Road, with Newcastle, West Ham, and clubs in Saudi Arabia showing interest in the experienced goalkeeper.

Additionally, Scottish media have indicated that Celtic is also interested in Begovic.

“I am currently exploring options, talking to QPR, and seeing what happens there,” he told Talksport.

“It’s still pretty early in the transfer window. Nothing has been decided yet. I really enjoyed last year, especially since I played so many games.”

Begovic signed a one-year contract when he joined QPR last summer after leaving Everton.

This move marked a return to west London for the Bosnian, who played for Chelsea between 2015 and 2017.

His career in England has also included stints at Portsmouth, Stoke, and Bournemouth.

Begovic played consistently for Rangers in the Championship last season until Joe Walsh was chosen for the final match of the campaign against Coventry.
