Outstanding’ 22-year-old told he would ‘flourish’ if he re-joins Rangers

Jon Brady, a former young player for the Rangers who returned to the squad to keep them safe in the higher league after helping them win promotion the season before, believes that he should be aiming to make a name for himself at a higher level right now.

After spending another season on loan at Northampton Town in 2024–2025, Marc Leonard—one of the many talented young players to emerge from Brighton and Hove Albion—is predicted to play in England’s second tier the following season, at the very least.

Given that Leonard was born in Glasgow and that he played youth football for Rangers, would he also be given the opportunity to rejoin the team and his native nation where he started his football career?

Brady expresses his strong opinion to the Daily Record, saying that the Old Firm rivals and Philippe Clement’s Glasgow giants should be chasing a Scotland under 21 international who has shown some “scary” improvement in recent months.

Marc Leonard is expected to return to the Rangers.

Brady claims that Marc Leonard is a player that the Rangers and Celtics should consider. “I am aware that the midfields on both teams are full of talent, but Marc is a fantastic young Scottish player.” He has the ability to reach the very top.

“And I think he has the talent to flourish for either side if Rangers or Celtic were to come in for him.”

After leaving Rangers, Leonard played four years at Hearts before moving south of the line with Brighton in 2018.

The 22-year-old is one of “the best players ever to wear a Cobblers shirt,” according to Brady’s latest claims. Very high regard, really.

Though Roberto de Zerbi is hardly lacking in midfield skill, and his Brighton contract expires in2025, offers will probably be taken into consideration for a player who may not be hurrying back to The Amex with a spot on the bench waiting for him.

Jack and Lundstram nearing Ibrox exits

There is a lot of interest in him from the English Championship. Certainly with the skill he has, for me, he has to be testing himself, at least in the Championship,” Brady adds. “He would be a huge asset to any team in that league.

“The improvement in him has been scary. (Leonard) came as a very talented technical player but now he has gone up so many levels. In the end, he was just grabbing games by the scruff of the neck and making a genuine impact. He has responded to every challenge we gave him.

Arriving as a youthful athlete, he departed from Northampton as an adult. This season, he has five goals and nine assists. His critical passes and progressive passing in the closing third were all terrific.

“It is a great credit to him to be so robust at his age after graduating from academy.”

Given that Ryan Jack and John Lundstram will be free agents in July, Rangers will probably need a midfield player.
