Paqueta: Steidten Insists Transfer Plans on Track

Technical director Tim Steidten of West Ham United has reassured supporters that the club’s transfer plans are unaffected by Lucas Paqueta’s ongoing betting charges. The Brazilian midfielder is currently competing for Brazil in the Copa America and is facing serious allegations from the Football Association (FA) that he purposefully received yellow cards in Premier League matches in order to manipulate betting markets. Paqueta has vigorously denied these accusations.

If found guilty, Paqueta would face a lengthy suspension that would endanger his career and possibly force West Ham to reconsider their transfer policy. Paqueta was being courted by Manchester City for a transfer fee that exceeded £80 million.

Despite the uncertainties, Steidten remains confident. He adds that Paqueta remains a crucial player for West Ham and is available for selection. He reaffirmed the club’s commitment to Paqueta during a recent meeting in Brazil. In addition, West Ham’s new manager Julen Lopetegui has extended support to Paqueta, recognizing the psychological toll the accusations are taking.

West Ham’s resolute position implies that the Paqueta scandal has no bearing on their transfer plans. Up until the investigation’s end, the club appears committed to the player, and his role doesn’t appear to be jeopardized.
