Peter Kioso on the parallels between Oxford United and Luton Town

PETER Kioso has seen similarities between Oxford United and his former club Luton Town, who went all the way from non-league to the Premier League within nine years.

Despite finishing six points short of safety and in the top flight, the Hatters were ultimately relegated this season, but they went down fighting and capturing the interest of English football fans. During his two and a half years at Luton, Kioso played 22 times, including loan stints at Bolton Wanderers, Northampton Town, and MK Dons.

Speaking to BBC Radio Oxford’s The Dub podcast, Kioso discussed the parallels he sees between United and the Hatters. He said: “One of the main reasons I signed for Oxford is that I’ve got that feeling that I had at Luton. “I feel like Luton was such a special place in terms of the fans and the club. It’s the family spirit they had, and that went us a long way.

I felt that when I spoke with the manager at Oxford, and sometimes as a player, you feel it too. “That can take you a long way, especially when you have the good players that we have as well.” is what I see when I look at Oxford in terms of how the club is run.
