Next season, Celtic will be aiming to win the Scottish Premiership once more. The team led by Brendan Rodgers also managed to win the Scottish Cup. Rangers, their rivals, will have a busy summer as they attempt to put up a strong fight for first place. Here are some of the most recent rumors and news about the Glasgow couple.
The Athletic has reported that Celtic and Rangers are both interested in signing Motherwell striker Theo Bair this summer. The 24-year-old has drawn attention while playing at Fir Park recently, and because of interest from other teams, his present team may struggle to hold onto him during this transfer window.
Bair progressed through the ranks of the Vancouver Whitecaps and went on to play 39 competitive games with the Major League Soccer team, scoring three goals.
The Canada international, who has played with two caps so far in his career, first temporarily relocated to Europe in 2021 after going on loan to Hamkam in Norway. He was later enticed to Scotland by St Johnstone, but he had little success there, scoring just once in 37 games.
But after moving to Motherwell the previous season, he has truly settled in and grown into one of the league’s most valuable attackers. After scoring 15 goals in 41 games for Stuart Kettlewell’s team last season, Bair is now being linked to a summer transfer.
“I know I’ve got a lot of stick over the earlier games, due to the lack of goals,” he stated in reference to his time with the Well thus far. I always felt like I had it in me, and I don’t deny it. I wouldn’t characterize it as a purple patch; rather, I would say that my performance is where I would like it to be.
All I want to do is carry on. Any striker knows they will be benched if they don’t score, even if I wasn’t watching. “Criticism is also there because people know you can do better.” He might be seen by Celtic as a way to up the ante and diversify their offensive line. Rangers may have seen him as a possible target to challenge Cyriel Dessers up top in the interim.
Rangers considering swoop
The Daily Record reports that Rangers are “considering” a bid for Hearts CEO Andrew McKinlay. Throughout his four years at the Edinburgh club, he has performed admirably with the Jam Tarts.
The Gers are searching for James Bisgrove’s replacement after he left for Al Qadsiah in Saudi Arabia. They can now choose to fill the position with one of their league competitors. Recently, Philippe Clement’s team entered the market to acquire Connor Barron, a midfield player. This summer, his contract with Aberdeen came to an end, therefore he decided to start a new chapter in his career at Ibrox.
