Rangers is about to announce a significant transfer as a previous Celtic target departs the team following discussions.

Rangers make strides in the transfer target and a former Celtic target finds himself searching for a new club once more

Rangers are quickly beginning to assemble a new-look team in the summer transfer window as Philippe Clement begins preparations for his first full season in the Ibrox dugout.

The signings of Jefte, Connor Barron, Liam Kelly and Clinton Nsiala have all been confirmed, with Mohamed Diomande’s loan move being made permanent.

However, it now seems as though another fresh face may be arriving, as TeamTalk sources indicate that forward Hamza Igamane’s signing is about to happen.

Rangers and Moroccan team AS FAR have been in intensive negotiations for a number of months, and there have been a lot of rumors circulating that a fee of about £2.5 million has been agreed upon. TeamTalk is also aware that following the successful approval of the 21-year-old’s work visa, the player will sign a five-year contract at Ibrox. Igamane, who has 16 goals and eight assists in 58 games for AS FAR, is thought to be an interesting talent. In his eight games for Morocco’s U23 team, he has also scored twice. He hopes to play senior international football with the World Cup semi-finalists one day.

It is currently unlikely that Igmane would start the season in the starting lineup given his young age and the league he comes from. Instead, Clement will probably gradually integrate the attacker into the senior group throughout preseason. On Saturday, August 3, Rangers travel to Tynecastle to play Hearts in the Premiership opener.

Former Celtic target leaves club

Following his successful loan stint with Heerenveen, where he scored 16 goals in 35 games during the 2022–2023 season, Sydney van Hooijdonk, a center forward for Bologna, was one of the top candidates to sign an agreement with Celtic last summer. There was a little bit last summer. Brendan Rodgers’ team had expressed interest in 2023, Sydney van Hooijdonk confirmed to the Pink’ Un that “(Celtic) is a lovely club, and I am a fan of them as well.”

Van Hooijdonk informed the publication that “this league is at a higher level than that league” as he instead chose to sign a loan with Norwich City, a Championship team. Thus, I’m rather glad to be here. As it turned out, Van Hooijdonk would not stay at Carrow Road for very long, and throughout his short loan stint, which saw him play in just 12 Championship games, he was unable to score any goals.

The supposedly £4 million striker was sidelined for the majority of the season and even found it difficult to make the Canaries’ bench when younger player Liam Gibbs was preferred. Van Hooijdonk won’t likely have any more chances at Bologna the following season, and according to HITC, he may decide to sign a second loan deal with Millwall in the Championship as his next move.
