‘I am screaming’: Micah Richards blown away by ‘incredible’ Rangers player vs Celtic at Ibrox

Philippe Clement’s Rangers played out a 3-3 draw with Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday.

Rangers and Celtic are the two biggest clubs in Scotland and are aiming to win the Scottish Premiership title this season.

Unlike in previous years, Rangers are now a force to be reckoned with under head coach Philippe Clement and are going to push Old Firm rivals and defending champions Celtic all the way for the title.

Rangers are second in the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 74 points from 31 matches, a point behind leaders Celtic, who have played 32 games.

The Gers and the Hoops faced each other at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday. The Old Firm derby ended in a 3-3 draw.

Celtic were 2-0 up at half time, but Rangers, who are keeping tabs on Rapid Vienna talents Leopold Querfeld and Matthias Seidl, stepped up their game in the second period and earned a point from the encounter in the end.

Rabbi Matondo scored the third goal for Rangers in the third minute of injury time with a stunning effort, and Micah Richards was impressed.

The former Manchester City star and BBC Sport pundit has noted how good the effort was from the 23-year-old Rangers and Wales international winger, but he did point out that Celtic could have done better defensively for the goal.

Richards said on The Rest is Football podcast: “You know, when Matondo got the ball, I am screaming, I am screaming at the defender to show him wide.

“I am coming back from London, watching it on SkyGo, and I am thinking, ‘The game is done here’. I was thinking, ‘What are you doing? You are showing him the wrong way’.

“When he hit it, I just knew it was going in. It was an incredible finish, it really was.

“I don’t know if you managed to see the goal, Al, it was similar to Kevin De Bruyne’s. It was just a wonderful strike, bent it, curled, right into the top corner. Last minute of the game.”

Exciting Rangers vs Celtic title race

In my opinion, the Scottish Premiership title race between Rangers and Celtic will be decided on the final day of the season.

Both Rangers and Celtic are in good form at the moment, and it is hard to see either the Gers or the Hoops suffering a major collapse in the final weeks of the campaign.

Finally, we have a really exciting and enthralling Scottish Premiership title race.
