Rangers are set to announce the exits of several first-team players in the coming days as Philippe Clement’s rebuild begins, according to the Daily Record.
Writing in their transfer live blog (28 May, 7:41), the news outlet report that the club will announce their retained list at some point this week to kickstart a busy summer of transfer business.
John Lundstram, Borna Barisic, Ryan Jack and Jon McLaughlin are all out of contract at the end of the month and are all expected to move on, despite the manager hoping that Lundstram would pen a new
deal.
Rangers new era set to begin
Fans have long called for a manager to come in and make some ruthless decisions with the squad because it hasn’t been good enough in recent years.
Lundstram is someone who has divided opinion for a long time and while Clement wanted to keep him, that decision has been taken out of his hands with a move to Turkey seemingly on the cards.
As for Barisic, Jack and McLaughlin though the manager has decided to move forward without them, and hopefully plans are in place and underway to replace them properly.
Jefte has already joined the club and deals for Jose Cordoba and Liam Kelly are said to be close, while attacker Adama Traore is also in “very advanced” talks to move to Glasgow.
It’s a strong start to the summer window for Nils Koppen and Clement, and things should begin to start moving even more in the coming days and weeks.
