Rangers want £15m to sell “man mountain” who is plotting Ibrox exit

He could be one of the club’s most expensive sales if he leaves.

According to reports, Rangers will demand £15 million to allow one of their players to leave Ibrox this summer. It has been revealed that the player is eager to leave.

Rangers are planning for the summer.

Rangers have been busy planning for the summer, concentrating initially on the new players. The target, Gjis Smal, is expected to sign a free transfer with Feyenoord, but they still need to find a left-back before the new season begins.

Not good news for one of the intriguing new recruits for the Gers…

Instead, it seems that the leaders of the Scottish Premiership are trying to finalise a deal for Brazilian left-back Jefte, hoping to take Borna Barisic’s place at Ibrox as he soon becomes a free agent. Just a year after his arrival, there might be an unexpected exit from Glasgow this summer.

Update on Jack Butland’s move

Shot stopper Jack Butland, who has been fantastic for Rangers this season and has contributed to their enormous 17 clean sheet total since joining on a free transfer last summer, could be the source of that surprise.

But as was previously mentioned last week, the 31-year-old is planning a comeback to the Premier League and hopes to rejoin the England team, two things he believes are connected. Despite intense rumours that he was included in the March international team, Three Lions manager Gareth Southgate passed him over in favour of Sam Johnstone.

Barry Ferguson, a former player for Rangers, called Southgate’s choice to ignore him a “slap in the face” and said Butland has been a “man mountain” since coming to Ibrox.

“I’m not just saying this because he’s the Rangers custodian; I couldn’t believe it when I watched the announcement. To be honest, I have no idea what to say. Yes, the keepers who were chosen in front of him are excellent keepers. Are they superior to Jack Butland, though? Not in my opinion.

“I would be disappointed if I were him. If that happened, I would be upset. However, he will utilise the remaining games of the season to go out and prove to everyone how wonderful of a goalie he is if he is feeling irate, frustrated, or disillusioned.

Although he didn’t make the squad, there is still a remote chance that he will travel to Germany, and that was a bad decision. But for now, all Jack can do is carry on with his game as he has since arriving here. Nothing else is in his power. And ever since he arrived, he has been the Rangers’ man mountain in the back.

Now, reporter Pete O’Rourke of Football Insider has reported that Rangers would approve a transfer if a potential buyer offered £15 million for the 31-year-old goalie, which would be the second-highest sale in the team’s history.

Rangers record sales
Player Club joined Year Fee
Calvin Bassey Ajax 2022 £20m
Nathan Patterson Everton 2021 £12
Giovanni van Bronkhorst Arsenal 2001 £11.5m
Alan Hutton Tottenham 2007 £11m

They go on to say that the Ibrox team “will not deny Butland a move” as long as their asking price is reached since they “aware that they will not be able to compete with the wages that can be offered by a top-flight English side.”

Despite losing a fantastic player in goal, it may mean a huge profit for the keeper and offer much-needed finances to strengthen the team as a whole.
