Realistic’ Proposed Trade Reunites Milwaukee With 2 Former Bucks

Jevon Carter

In their pursuit of yet another championship, the Milwaukee Bucks might have the assistance of a well-known individual. I have two former players in mind: Trevor Craig and Jevon Carter, who are both on the Chicago Bulls.

In a story published on July 12, Bleacher Report’s Dan Favale suggested the following trade between the Bucks and Bulls, which would reunite Milwaukee with both.

Bucks awarded to Carter and Craig

Pit Bulls: Pat Connaughton

Despite not having had the best season, Carter would fit in well with the Bucks, according to Favale.

“Carter had a poor season, but he wasn’t helped by Chicago’s depth-chart arrangement. He has experience playing next to this core, the Bucks can set him up for better long-range chances, and his return offers them another strong point-of-attack defender in addition to Delon Wright.

Favale went on to discuss Craig’s appeal as a player to the Bucks.

“Over the last two years, he has shot over 39 percent from downtown, albeit on a limited volume. This gives the Bucks rotation a more body to use against bigger forwards and power wings. He is still among the league’s most cunning offensive rebounders.

Due to their shared history as Bucks players, they may be valuable based just on familiarity.

Bulls’ rebuild could benefit the Bucks.

The Bucks have few alternatives for improving their club because they are a team that is in the NBA’s second tax bracket. Wright and Taurean Prince are two strong additions to the team. They might be able to attain more from Carter and Craig.

The Bulls have made it clear that they want to start again. In exchange for Josh Giddey, they sent Alex Caruso to the Oklahoma City Thunder. After that, they signed and moved DeMar DeRozan for cash and Chris Duarte to the Sacramento Kings. For months, they have been attempting to trade Zach LaVine, and Nikola Vucevic might follow him.

The Bucks might take advantage of the Bulls’ newfound optimism by acquiring rotation players like Craig and Carter. The Bucks’ depth was one of their most obvious weaknesses in 2023–2024. These players could cover those gaps in their current rotation. Most importantly, they would be inexpensive players who could produce results.

Tenures of Carter’s & Craig’s in Milwaukee

Although they were on the team at different times, Carter and Craig were both members of the Bucks. Craig was only able to play in 18 games for the Bucks before they traded him to the Phoenix Suns for the 2020–21 campaign. Strangely enough, Craig was used a lot more by the Suns throughout their postseason run, which ended in an NBA Finals loss to the Bucks in 2021.

Carter was signed by the Bucks in 2022, and throughout his one and a half season in Milwaukee, he developed into a gem in the rough. During his only complete season with the Bucks, he shot 42.1% from three-point range and scored eight points per game.

The head coach is the difference between their prior and present employment, should the Bucks acquire them. When they were on the Milwaukee team, Mike Budenholzer made all of the decisions. Doc Rivers will be their coach if they return.
