Manager: Oliver Glasner

In February 2024, Crystal Palace announced that Oliver Glasner had been appointed as their next manager, succeeding Roy Hodgson. The Austrian coach has a history of getting teams into European tournaments; with Eintracht Frankfurt, he even won the Europa League.

Assistant manager: Paddy McCarthy

As Hodgson’s assistant manager, Paddy McCarthy joined the Crystal Palace first-team coaching staff in March 2023 and will remain a member of Glasner’s setup. The Dublin native was given a promotion to the senior squad by the Eagles in appreciation for his achievements with the Crystal Palace youth. McCarthy began his coaching career with the Under-18 team of the team.

McCarthy was first appointed as a young coach by Crystal Palace, and in 2021 the club named him head coach of their U21 team. The UEFA After Vieira left, a licence holder managed the Eagles’ starting lineup for one game. In March 2023, he took over to oversee their 4-1 loss against Arsenal on the road.

He also moved into the Selhurst Park dugout after McCarthy had a stint on the pitch there. In 2008, the defender was acquired by Crystal Palace from Charlton Athletic, following stints with Manchester City and Leicester City. After multiple loan moves, McCarthy would retire with the Eagles in 2016.

First-team coach: Ronald Brunmayr

Ronald Brunmayr became a member of Glasner’s coaching staff at Crystal Palace after his appointment in February 2024. After playing for FC Linz, Austria Wien, SV Ried, Grazer AK, Sturm Graz, FC Karnten, and FC Pasching, Brunmayr, a former striker, topped the scoring records in the Austrian Bundesliga.

His coaching career would begin with LASK, where he would also take a managerial step before he joined Glasner at Eintracht Frankfurt and later Crystal Palace.

Goalkeeping coach: Dean Kiely

In February 2024, Dean Kiely was retained by Crystal Palace as the team’s goalkeeping coach when Glasner announced his coaching staff. In January 2018, the Salford-born former Republic of Ireland international became a member of the Eagles’ coaching staff for the first time. At the time, Hodgson had enticed the coach away from Preston North End.

In 2011, Kiely began his coaching career with West Bromwich Albion after the Baggies decided not to renew his playing contract. Up until 2015, when Tony Pulis took over and joined Norwich City’s coaching team, he stayed at the Hawthorns. In 2017, Preston persuaded Kiely to spend four months in Deepdale.

Assistant coach: Michael Angerschmid

With Glasner’s appointment as manager, Michael Angerschmid relocated to Crystal Palace. Both of them played for SV Ried before going into coaching, therefore their careers have been entwined.

During Glasner’s tenure at LASK, VFL Wolfsburg, and Eintracht Frankfurt, Angerschmid served as an assistant coach.

Assistant coach: Emanuel Pogatetz

Emanuel Pogatetz is no stranger to English football, having played for both Middlesbrough and West Ham in his playing days. Now returning as a coach with Crystal Palace, the Austrian has experience working with academies.

Fitness and conditioning coach: Michael Berktold

In February 2024, Michael Berktold moved to Crystal Palace to work with Glasner and the other members of his coaching staff. The management had previously employed the coach at VFL Wolfsburg and LASK, but RB Salzburg was his most recent employer.

Harry Bearman is the first-team rehabilitation coach.

Harry Bearman joined Crystal Palace’s coaching staff in September 2019. In September 2021, he was appointed as the Eagles’ first-team rehabilitation coach. After serving as the first-team strength and conditioning coach for the south London club for two years, Selhurst Park officials decided to promote Bearman.

In September 2019, Bearman relocated to South London in order to pursue his football career, having previously worked for Millwall and Charlton Athletic. Prior to starting his football career, he also worked at the Bromley Tennis Academy LTA Accredited High Performance Centre from April 2014 to May 2015.

Bearman was finally employed by the University of Bolton as the strength and conditioning coach for the women’s badminton team from November 2012 to April 2014. After graduating from the university with a bachelor’s degree and going on to St. Mary’s University in Twickenham to receive his master’s, he was hired.

Ben Stevens, head of recruitment and performance analysis

Since June 2018, Ben Stevens has served as the head of performance and recruitment analysis for the coaching staff of Crystal Palace. After working as their head of performance analysis for three years, the Eagles elevated him to the post. Stevens even made his way back to his hometown of Selhurst Park.

After serving as the Eagles’ first-team performance analyst for six months, Stevens was enticed by Newcastle United to leave Selhurst Park in January 2011. Before taking a position akin to this at St. James’ Park, he was appointed head of performance analysis. In December 2012, he was cast in a second part that lasted until January 2015.

Stevens worked for Southampton prior to joining the Crystal Palace coaching team. After graduating from Solent University in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in football studies, the analyst’s first NFL gig was with the Saints. In 2022, Stevens would also obtain a master’s degree in sports directorship.

Stevens is also in charge of a small group of analysts at Selhurst Park. Thomas Johnson joined Crystal Palace’s first squad in April 2019 after serving in the club’s academy since March 2017. In July 2021, Kieran Dowler initially joined from the coaching staff of Tottenham Hotspur.

Michael MacNeill, lead opposition scout

Michael MacNeill was hired by Crystal Palace in December 2017 as their head opposition scout. In a remarkable football career that began in December 1993, he has remained in that position at Selhurst Park ever since. MacNeill was brought on by Huddersfield Town as their lead scout for the South East and London.

In addition, MacNeill has worked as a scout for Southampton, Charlton Athletic, Southend United, Lincoln City, and Plymouth Argyle. He was even a scout for Crystal Palace from 2010 until 2014. Later, in September 2014, he would go back to Huddersfield, staying there until July 2016, when he transferred to Rotherham United.

Along with these organisations, MacNeill has worked with Islington Council, Inner London Schools Football Association, Islington and Camden Schools Football Association, Islington Borough FC, and Islington Borough Ladies FC. He has served as the chairman or secretary for a few
