In addition to Japanese star Yukinari Sugawara, Southampton has been one of the most active teams in the transfer market in recent weeks. They may also add Crystal Palace youngster Jesurun Rak-Sakyi to their ranks after it was reported that they had made a £7 million move for the Eagles starlet.
In transactions worth over £40 million, Saints manager Russell Martin has already brought in Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Adam Lallana, Charlie Taylor, Ronnie Edwards, Nathan Wood, and Flynn Downes. Sugawara, who left AZ Alkmaar to join Saints, is the only first-team player acquired from outside of the English pyramid.
With the addition of significant steel to the defense and the offensive production of Downes and Lallana, Southampton has strengthened their squad admirably. More additions to the roster are expected this summer. However, journalist Alan Nixon claims that if Rak-Sakyi makes an unexpected bid, that might grow.
Saints Make Offer for Rak-Sakyi
Newly-promoted side could add the youngster to their ranks
According to the Nixon report, Southampton is looking to bolster its roster ahead of the Premier League season, and they have launched an unexpected £7 million approach for Palace striker Rak-Sakyi.
Rak-Sakyi was a member of Palace’s team during the previous season, but he only played in six Premier League games because of the occasionally outstanding play of Eberechi Eze, Michael Olise, and Jeff Schlupp. As a result, he may be moving this summer before Selhurst Park games begin.

Because of this, Southampton has made a £7 million bid for his services, even though he has a good chance of playing first team minutes in south London this season. The winger may sign a loan agreement to transfer to the south coast if Russell Martin decides it’s appropriate to bring him in, even if their attempt to relocate permanently is unsuccessful.
Rak-Sakyi’s decision could be greatly influenced by a larger offer and the possibility of moving to the Premier League and earning first-team minutes. Palace is likely to reject the bid because they don’t want to lose their young player.
Oliver Glasner’s team is believed to be taken aback by the offer, as they had intended to loan him to the Championship for the entire summer following a disappointing campaign at Selhurst Park. The finest offer to temporarily hire him came from Hull City, but Southampton has since entered the picture and altered every aspect of any potential agreement involving his services.
Palace Must Play Rak-Sakyi if They Keep Him
Eagles do not want to lose a star youth player
Rak-Sakyi led Charlton Athletic to 15 league goals in the 2022–2023 season. He not only scored on his debut but also registered eight assists, earning 46% of the vote and the unanimous Player of the Year title.
GIVEMESPORT Important Stat: In just 132 minutes of Premier League action last season, Jesurun Rak-Sakyi was on the field.
Rak-Sakyi, who was only 19 when he signed, has already proven that he is more than capable of playing regularly in the Championship. Last summer, he appeared to be interested in playing for teams like Queens Park Rangers, Blackburn Rovers, and Ipswich Town, but Palace decided to keep him in the Premier League.
With eight first-team appearances for the Eagles, it feels like now or never for the club to use him before he realizes there are first-team opportunities elsewhere; otherwise, they risk missing out on a future gem, especially after former coach Patrick Vieira called him “fantastic.” He was released by Chelsea when he was just 16 years old, and Palace signed him.
