Philippe Clement has stated that Mohamed Diomande and Ridvan Yilmaz will still be unavailable for the twice-postponed trip to play Dundee at Dens Park.
In an attempt to recover from a shocking loss at Ross County, the Light Blues manager disclosed during his pre-game news conference on April 16 that the Turkish full-back and the Ivorian midfielder would not be back in time for the midweek encounter the following night.
Furthermore, Leon Balogun has been unwell for the previous several days and is not fully fit, raising concerns about the defense.
Yilmaz sustained an injury during the international break, and although there were expectations that he would be fit for the Old Firm derby against Celtic last week, he is still sidelined. Meanwhile, Diomande had thumb surgery, which kept him out of the weekend’s trip to Dingwall.
Rangers’ inevitable response to Ross County’s defeat
After losing eight points in their previous four league games, the Light Blues have given themselves an uphill struggle. Before that, their march through 2024 had gradually given the impression that a first title in three years would be returning to Ibrox.
With key players’ form abandoning them at a critical juncture, they almost probably now have to travel to Parkhead and prevail—something else they haven’t done in that period either. It appears to be a daunting task once more.
Nevertheless, Clement knows the season is still in his team’s hands because they will still be champions if they win all of their games. Having reignited a title chase previously, he is still in business if he can generate a response now.
That won’t be the case, though, if there is one more misstep in this increasingly contentious matchup, as Dundee present a lot greater challenge on paper than Ross County did prior to the latter team overwhelming the Gers in Dingwall.

The confirmation of Dens Park as the location for this fixture’s third attempt raises the possibility of additional rain-related disruptions.
And that’s definitely the last thing Clement and Rangers need, given that the problems surrounding the second postponement last week seem to have contributed to a dismal performance over the weekend.
