Rivals ready to sanction £50k-a-week star’s departure to Tottenham this summer

Chelsea may sell homegrown talent Conor Gallagher to rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

The North London club has begun to plan for the forthcoming summer transfer window, and Conor Gallagher has been a long-term target.

According to Football Insider, Tottenham could sign the £50k-a-week star this summer, since Chelsea is willing to let him leave.

Gallagher has been a notable player for Mauricio Pochettino’s side this season. The 24-year-old midfielder has appeared in 42 appearances and contributed to 13 goals. Despite his performances and importance to the squad, he is expected to leave this summer.

His contract with the Blues expires in the summer of 2025, and discussions about a renewal have entirely halted. With Gallagher entering the final year of his contract this summer, Chelsea will want to sanction his departure rather than risk losing him for free next year.

Chelsea need to sell Conor Gallagher

The Blues are hurting financially; they have lost £211.5 million over the last two seasons and will need to sanction a few exits before June 30th to balance their books. Gallagher’s sale would be pure profit because he is a homegrown player.

With Chelsea willing to sell, Tottenham can finally acquire the 24-year-old. Spurs have been keeping an eye on the England international for a while. They believe he is a great fit for Ange Postecoglou’s style of play. Gallagher might be an ideal addition for the North London club, as Pierre-Emile Højbjerg is poised to leave.
