Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers
Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers expressed confidence that his team is primed for success in the Champions League after maintaining a perfect start to the Premiership season. The Hoops secured their fifth consecutive win with a 2-0 victory over Hearts, matching a 120-year-old clean sheet record. As Celtic prepare to face Slovan Bratislava at Parkhead on Wednesday in Europe, Rodgers believes his squad is in excellent shape to compete at the highest level.

Rodgers, who returned to the club two years ago with the goal of advancing Celtic’s European ambitions, feels more confident than ever heading into their first group-stage game in the Champions League’s new format. After goals from newcomers Arne Engels and Luke McCowan sealed the win against Hearts, Rodgers was asked if he felt this was the strongest squad he’s had for Europe. He responded, “Yes, I’m really excited by it. We’ve got a good balance in the squad.”

He emphasized the team’s strong mentality and readiness to tackle the challenges of the Champions League, acknowledging the high level of competition but expressing determination to give their all. Rodgers reiterated his ambition to make a positive start in Europe, stating, “I said when I came back I wanted to progress the club in Europe, absolutely.”
