SAD NEWS: Aston Villa star handed euro 2024 blow after injury

 

Poland’s tentative EURO 2024 roster is without Matty Cash because of an injury he suffered while training earlier this month. Poland’s first 29-man roster for EURO 2024 does not include Matty Cash since he is still recovering from a calf injury.

The right-back was hurt during a pre-Premier League training session for Villa’s match against Liverpool earlier this month. In the season’s last home game, the team played a 3-3 draw, which gave Unai Emery’s team a point and moved them one step closer to Champions League qualification.

Matty Cash is carrying a calf injury

The Manchester City victory against Tottenham the night after Villa’s thrilling late comeback against the Reds guaranteed Villa’s spot in the top four. Prior to the tie with Liverpool, right-back Cash had started the team’s last three games following his recovery from a hamstring injury sustained in March while playing for Poland overseas.

The 26-year-old played for Villa in 29 Premier League games last season in addition to 11 in the Europa Conference League. He scored the late goal that forced extra time in Villa’s quarterfinal matchup with Lille; nonetheless, Villa was eliminated from Europe in the semifinals against Olympiacos.

Oliwier Zych, a 19-year-old custodian from Villa, is the fourth choice behind Wojciech Szczesny, Lukasz Skorupski, and Marcin Bulka in Poland’s provisional roster.

John McGinn and Youri Tielemans have also been added to the preliminary squads for Scotland and Belgium, respectively, and Ollie Watkins and Ezri Konsa may play for England. France did not include Moussa Diaby or Lucas Digne in their squad, and Spain did not include Pau Torres.
