In light of the recent rumours coming out of Crystal Palace, David Ozoh is undoubtedly feeling a little sad.
The 19-year-old really came into his own during the 2023–24 season, especially when he showed up to help us rally from a 2-0 deficit to tie the game 2-2 at the Etihad Stadium against Manchester City.
The teenager gave a fantastic performance, which Jeffrey Schlupp recently mentioned in compliments of his Crystal Palace teammate in April.
According to the Eagles’ official website, the Crystal Palace No. 52 appears to have a deep love for the team as well: “I just love playing for the club, for the badge, for the fans.” I want to repeat the action over and over.
But now, there are some reports that could make David Ozoh feel a little disappointed.
Reasons David Ozoh could be depressed at Crystal Palace
Oliver Glasner does not appear to be considering the Valencia-born possibility for the 2024–25 season, regrettably, given the flurry of transfer reports that connect Crystal Palace to central midfielders.
With just 21 Premier League minutes under his belt since Roy Hodgson’s departure, Ozoh was already having difficulty getting into the game under the Austrian.
Now, there might be more rivalry for spots.
London World also reports that Wilfred Ndidi, a central midfield player for Leicester who is ranked No. 25, is also attracting interest.
Furthermore, a report from Fotospor in Turkey stated that Batista Mendy, a French defensive midfielder, is a target for Crystal Palace and is eager to join Trabzonspor in position six.
Ozoh is currently in SE25, therefore it would appear that Glasner and Freedman are focusing on adding a new central midfielder, indicating that the young player is not expected to move up and establish himself as a regular starter.
Worse for the Crystal Palace academy graduate, Cheick Doucoure will be back to full fitness in time for the 2024–2025 season, meaning there will be even more competition for playing time.

Crystal Palace has to find Ozoh a loan move if he won’t be playing much next season. We were unable to do so last summer, which cost Jesurun Rak-Sakyi an important year of growth.
With 15 goals in 43 League One appearances during the 2022–2023 season, the Crystal Palace No. 49 excelled while on loan at Charlton.
Rak-Sakyi’s efforts at the Valley even led Leicester to want to take him on loan, the Telegraph reports, albeit the 21-year-old was only kept at Selhurst Park as a backup option to add depth.

If Glasner has no intention of using the gifted pair, perhaps Freedman can find some smart loan moves for Ozoh and Rak-Sakyi this summer.
