If it were feasible, Saido Berahino said he would go back to West Bromwich Albion without receiving compensation.

The thirty-year-old striker began his career with West Brom at the Under-12 level and advanced to the point where, at the age of seventeen, he signed his first professional contract. His lower league loan experience provided him with a springboard into the Premier League, where he made an immediate impression.

When he scored the historic game-winning goal at Old Trafford against Manchester United in the 2013–14 campaign, he was rewarded for his first sustained starting position for the Baggies. Twenty goals in all competitions a year later, and the Burundian-born sensation was solidly establishing himself as a fan favorite.

However, Berahino’s honeymoon would soon come to an end when he heard rumors of a transfer from North London. When Tottenham Hotspur needed a forward, the striker’s only thought seemed to be on moving to a “bigger club.”

His form plummeted, relationships with clubgoers fell apart, and he was placed for sale—this was the disheartening tipping point in a once bright career. After being granted permission to sign a £12 million contract with Stoke City in 2017, he has since played for Sheffield Wednesday, AEL Limassol, and other teams in Belgium; nevertheless, his effectiveness has not nearly reached that of his early years at the Hawthorns.

Undoubtedly, Berahino is sorry for the things he did to cause his relationship in the West Midlands to end. Initiating a Q&A session on X, he clarified that, in an emergency, he would quickly return to his previous team without receiving anything.

“Any regrets on how things ended at West Brom?” a frank question from another fan was posed. To which the striker said, “Who has no regrets in life!!”

As much as he would love to return to the Hawthorns to see Sunday’s Championship play-off first leg against Southampton, he has his wedding to prepare for. He also confessed that he was never given the whole explanation of why Albion would not approve of a move to Spurs.
