Duncan McGuire to Sheffield Wednesday latest

Sheffield Wednesday have retained interest in January target Duncan McGuire at Orlando City, with Blackburn Rovers and clubs in Europe also keen.

He’s out of contract at the end of this year and Rovers are keen to reignite talks to sign him this summer, though McGuire has said that it would ‘take a lot’ to revisit a failed move to Lancashire this summer.

The latest regarding Sheffield Wednesday and McGuire comes from Alan Nixon, who’s confirmed that the Owls are indeed keen on McGuire this summer, but that it would need to be a permanent transfer rather than a loan deal.

Ian Poveda to Sheffield Wednesday latest

Sheffield Wednesday are keen to re-sign Ian Poveda following his impressive spell on loan from Leeds United in the second half of the 2023/24 season.

But since the end of the campaign, Poveda has seen links to Burnley, Luton Town, and Sunderland ahead of the summer, as well as having interest from the Owls.

Former Wednesday midfielder Carlton Palmer though believes that a Sheffield Wednesday return would be the best fit for 24-year-old Poveda this summer.

Palmer recently said: “Of course, Burnley and Luton are going to be in the Championship next season, Sunderland are going to be in the Championship.

“I think the best fit for him is where he is, Sheffield Wednesday.”

Sheffield Wednesday are also keen to re-sign Ike Ugbo this summer, and the Owls may well have received a timely boost in this particular pursuit.

The Canadian’s parent cub, Troyes, were relegated from the French Ligue 2 last week, and so the prolific Ugbo could be on the move this summer with the 25-year-old unlikely to be keen on playing French third tier football next season.

James Beadle to Sheffield Wednesday latest

The Owls also want to bring Brighton goalkeeper James Beadle back on loan this summer, with Sheffield Wednesday News recently revealing that the Seagulls will definitely be loaning the 19-year-old out once again.

But Brighton recently announced the exit of manager Roberto De Zerbi. Although the club will loan Beadle out this summer, a change in manager may well delay proceedings and potentially allow other clubs to join the race for his signature.

Sheffield Wednesday January target released

Lastly, January target Scott Hogan has been released by Birmingham City, following Blues’ relegation to League One.

In four-and-a-half seasons with the club, Irishman Hogan scored 36 goals in 158 total appearances, also claiming eight assists.

There’s no indication whether or not Sheffield Wednesday remain interested in the 32-eyar-old, though.
