Claimed news about Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark and the ABC talk show “The View” can be found on some websites and is certain to generate attention. It is not real because of that. A Facebook post on August 5 read, “BREAKING: Caitlin Clark declines $1 million offer from ABC to appear on ‘The View.'” As part of Meta’s initiative to dispel misleading information on its News Feed, this post was highlighted. (Learn more about our collaboration with Facebook and Instagram owner Meta.)
This assertion first appeared on America’s Last Line of Defense, a self-described satirical page. According to its Facebook bio, “nothing on this page is real.” Satire was not mentioned in the Facebook post that reposted the assertion.
While searching for proof, we were unable to locate any reliable news articles or official declarations indicating that Clark had discussed “The View” in public. Additionally, according to the Facebook post, Clark declined a “massive Nike endorsement worth $400 million” because she disagreed with Colin Kaepernick, the former quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers. That was untrue when we fact-checked it earlier. Likewise, this is. We rank the rumours that Clark declined a $1 million appearance on “The View” as false.
