Shocking News: North Queensland Cowboys coach Todd Payten makes blunt confession

North Queensland coach Todd Payten has firmly stated that his team needs to evolve together, or they’ll continue to be an average NRL side. This comment came after a 26-18 loss to Cronulla on Friday night at Allianz Stadium, which concluded the Cowboys’ season.

Braydon Trindall, the Sharks’ five-eighth, stood out with two tries, helping his team break their finals losing streak.

In the press conference, Cotter echoed Payten’s harsh critique, noting, “As Todd said, you can’t give away leads like that in crucial matches, so we have a lot to improve.”

Payten is set to lose several key players in the off-season, with Kyle Feldt heading to the Super League, Valentine Holmes moving to St George Illawarra, and Chad Townsend joining the Roosters.

Despite earlier travel issues, Payten did not use them as an excuse for his team’s poor start against the Sharks. The Cowboys had to charter a plane to Sydney due to a lack of commercial flights from Townsville.

“It’s not an excuse,” Payten emphasized. “Mentally, we were ready; we just put ourselves under too much pressure in the first half.”
