Carlos Corberan, a former coach at Leeds United and Huddersfield Town, is one of the leading candidates for the Leicester City position.
It seems that Enzo Maresca will not be managing the Foxes in the Premier League since he is expected to take over as Chelsea’s manager in place of Mauricio Pochettino.
If Maresca does leave, Leicester will need to make sure they replace him wisely because a return to the top flight is quickly approaching.
At 4/1, Corberan is one of the early favourites at Betvictor; the only person sitting ahead of him is former Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper.
Since taking over West Bromwich Albion in 2022, the Spaniard has performed admirably at The Hawthorns despite adversity. Last season, he guided the Baggies into the Championship play-offs; however, Southampton defeated the team in the semifinals.
Having led Huddersfield to the Championship play-off final in 2022, Corberan was no stranger to play-off disappointment. It was Corberan’s final match as manager and Nottingham Forest came out on top. After that, he had a brief term as Olympiacos’ manager before coming back to England to take the West Brom position.
The 41-year-old’s first chance to be a senior number one in England came from Huddersfield, but Leeds was the team that brought him to the United Kingdom. He started out as the team’s under-23 captain and developed a promising group of players.
He quickly transitioned into the senior lineup, supporting Marcelo Bielsa as the Whites made it to the 2020 Premier League. Several times since leaving Elland Road, he has been connected to a comeback.
Before Leeds turned over leadership of their Premier League survival to Javi Gracia last year, he was mentioned as a possible target.
