Fearing what lies ahead, supporters of Southend United, THE Shrimpers Trust, have been attempting to acquire a backup plan for the team.
The group led by Justin Rees is still attempting to seize ownership of the National League team.
However, the Trust has been considering its options in the event that the consortium decides to back out of the agreement.
We should not be misled into believing that we have been inactive during the last two weeks, according to a statement released today.
“If a compromise is not reached by next Friday between the Council and the Martins, there’s a good chance that COSU will go, and who could blame them.
“The ramifications of this are what have been occupying us for some time; consequently although we believe today’s announcement provides a potential pathway towards a positive conclusion to the current situation for the football club, the Shrimpers Trust are planning for every eventuality.”
