Che Adams’ Southampton contract expired fourteen days ago, but the club still doesn’t know if the striker will sign a new contract or go elsewhere.

Before Southampton’s return to the Premier League this summer, Russell Martin is eager to finish his business so he can have as much time as possible to work with his new players.

Due to this, the team has already made five senior acquisitions; Yukinari Sugawara, a Japan international, is expected to be announced as the sixth.

The future of Che Adams, on the other hand, is a topic of discussion this summer.

The 28-year-old striker’s contract expired at the beginning of June, but the team has not yet announced his departure, just as they did not announce Stuart Armstrong’s, since negotiations between the player and the club are still ongoing.

A fresh development has surfaced: a another team has entered the competition to sign the forward, who is available for free.

Torino have joined the competition to sign Che Adams, who has been reluctant to commit to Southampton despite a contract offer last season. The club’s promotion to the Premier League has influenced Adams’ decision-making, as he was less inclined to stay had they remained in the Championship. While Everton has shown interest in the forward for some time, Nottingham Forest and Wolves have been actively pursuing him this summer. Additionally, there is unexpected interest from Saudi Arabia, further complicating matters. Now, Torino from Serie A have entered the fray and reportedly aim to outmaneuver Wolves in securing Adams’ signature. Southampton, therefore, are preparing for the possibility of Adams moving on.Che Adams of Southampton after he is subbed with Head Coach Russell Martin after his sides 3-0 win during the Sky Bet Championship match between So...

Another interested club thrown into the mix will likely only serve to drag out this transfer saga for even longer.

Southampton are simply not in a position where they can afford to wait with their opening day Premier League fixture away at Newcastle United on 17th August edging ever closer.

Given Adams has been so reluctant to commit his future to the club so far and the fact he has never been a regular goalscorer in the top flight, Southampton could well be best served removing themselves from the race and planning for next season without Adams.

With 15 Championship goals last season, the striker was an important member of the promotion-winning side, but the ongoing drama surrounding his future is only serving to frustrate the club’s fans at this point.

It could be argued that many supporters would be nonplussed if Adams did leave, with an upgrade required ready for the Premier League regardless of his decision.
