Rangers and Southend United are reportedly in negotiations for a preseason friendly.
There are rumours that the Rangers management and the Vanarama National League team are in talks over a mid-July match.
According to Echosport, a preseason game between Southend and Rangers B may take place in mid- to late July.
Although it hasn’t been confirmed, the probable matchup is most likely to take place in Scotland.
George Taylor, the director of Rangers, is a member of a group vying for control at Southend, which may serve as a conduit for amicable arrangements between the clubs.
“Additional matches in the schedule to come” are the preseason fixtures that Southend has already confirmed.
On July 13th, Saturday, they play Great Wakering Rovers, and on July 16th, Tuesday, they play Caney Island.
The English team will next play at home against Gillingham on July 27 and away against Chelmsford City on August 3.
“Plans for the Shrimpers’ 2024/25 pre-season schedule are well underway, with four friendlies confirmed so far as Kevin Maher prepares for the new Vanarama National League campaign,” reads a Southend statement on preseason games, which does not yet feature Rangers.
“On Saturday, July 13 (3pm KO), the Blues will kick off their preseason with a traditional curtain raiser against Great Wakering Rovers, the Isuzu FA Vase finalists from the previous season. We’re happy to have them back for the first time since the 21/22 campaign.
“On Tuesday, July 16 at Park Lane (7.30pm KO), Burroughs Park will be swiftly followed by a trip to Canvey Island, a team in the Isthmian League Premier Division.
