Sunderland to demand £12m as clubs target 2023 signing

Ahead of the summer transfer window, Sunderland has valued attacking midfielder Jobe Bellingham at £12 million, according to Football Insider. There are a lot of young players at Sunderland, so it stands to reason that teams in higher divisions may want to lure them away from the Stadium of Light before the summer transfer window opens.

Bellingham, an 18-year-old prospect who just joined from Birmingham City last summer, is one of them.

The young player has always been connected to elite teams, but as the summer transfer window draws closer, rumors are circulating that Borussia Dortmund is considering making a move for the Black Cats star.

Bellingham’s appraisal by the Championship team has already been revealed by Football Insider. It is said that in the next transfer window, Bellingham will get £12 million from Sunderland. The club is expected to generate revenue following its 2022–2023 losses, with a valuation of £8 million plus add-ons. Bellingham spent the 2023–2024 season playing for the Wearside team as an attacking midfielder and striker. Throughout 47 games, he recorded seven goals and one assist. It was a difficult season for the team, as they were eliminated from the playoffs.

A swift move to a higher level?

Bellingham only joined for Sunderland last summer so while a sale this year would allow them to make a quick profit on the youngster, perhaps they’ll bide their time and develop him a bit more before cashing in.

However, when it comes to making money, a team of Borussia Dortmund’s caliber can choose the speedy financial gain if they can match their reported price. Bellingham is undoubtedly a player who can go to a higher level in the future, and major organizations are increasingly turning to him early in the process to acquire gifted players. Maybe Sunderland may sign Bellingham in 2023 as top teams try to sign prospects like him before their worth increases too much.
