Since the 2023–24 season concluded, clubs have announced around 40 transactions.

Pompey supporters have been eagerly awaiting any updates regarding transfers.

Ever since they successfully negotiated their way back into the Championship after their incredible League One title run, the Blues have been connected to a number of new players. However, while fans wait for Pompey to announce their plans publicly, rumours and conjecture have not yet resulted in fresh faces entering Fratton Park.

However, clubs in each of the EFL’s three divisions have already begun assembling their teams in front of the upcoming campaign and before the formal transfer market opens on June 14. In fact, three players who were cut by the Blues at the end of the 2023–24 season have already signed contracts with new teams: Matt Macey has signed with Colchester United, Joe Rafferty and Sean Raggett have joined Rotherham United on a free transfer, and both have signed deals with new teams.

Since their relegation from the Championship, Rotherham has been the most active team under new manager Steve Evans. The Millers signed former Coventry captain Liam Kelly, making him their seventh new player overall.

There’s no doubt more will arrive at New York Stadium before the September transfer window shuts. Less than two weeks remain until trade officially starts, so what have the teams been up to as Pompey holds off on making any announcements?
