Scottish Premiership Football, Motherwell vs. Celtic, October 27, 2024, Fir Park, Motherwell, Scotland; Celtic’s Luke McCowan
Following a demanding tour to Europe, fans had been clamouring for McCowan to receive the nod for some time, and Sunday seemed like the perfect chance for him to do so.
The 26-year-old fit right in with the team in the middle of the park.
McCowan never shied away from a pop at goal, and his own strike was a brilliant individual effort. After picking up the ball in the last third, McCowan shot it through the legs of another Motherwell player and into the bottom right corner after nutmegging his opponent brilliantly.
Since McCowan joined the team on the day of the transfer deadline, Celtic fans have taken to him since he is one of their own.
Sutton couldn’t conceal his joy for the former Dundee player yesterday, just like the supporters did. He always gives it his all on the pitch.
In the end, he stated, “[It was] comfortable for Celtic against a stubborn Motherwell” (X).
“Happy for McCowan, great finish.”
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has a number of selection conundrums going into Wednesday’s game against Dundee as a result of the return of several important players, including Cameron Carter-Vickers and Greg Taylor.
With the Dees’ trip to Glasgow’s east end beginning a run of three games in seven days, Celtic’s games are coming thick and fast.
