To be completely honest, the Jags were a little let down by last season. After the team’s thrilling victory over the Chargers in the Wild Card Round of the 2022 playoffs, which concluded Doug Pederson’s first season as head coach, expectations were high in 2023. Many just thought Duval will reclaim the AFC South title. But in the NFL, nothing should ever be taken for granted. Their collapse culminated in a loss to Tennessee in Week 18, which prevented them from making the playoffs and let Houston overtake them atop the AFC South.
The fact remains, though: Jacksonville also had a winning regular-season record, accomplishing that accomplishment for the first time since 2004–05 in back-to-back years. It’s comparable to when a fantastic PPV event has a mediocre main event. (Which, given the master class given by Will Ospreay and Swerve Strickland, was evidently not the case with Forbidden Door.) Having said that, how can the Jaguars win this fall’s big event?
