Brentford manager Thomas Frank is a major supporter of Sheffield Wednesday’s emerging transfer target. Sheffield Wednesday are aggressively preparing for the summer transfer window after securing manager Danny Rohl’s contract.
He signs a new three-year contract with Hillsborough after leading the Owls to a miraculous 20th-place finish in the 2023/24 Championship season. Duncan McGuire and Mika Biereth have been linked with Sheffield Wednesday after the club attempted and failed to sign the strikers in January. Meanwhile, Wednesday appear to be scouring the free market once more, with former Reading and Liverpool player Ovie Ejaria being connected.
The Owls are also interested in Charlie Goode, who is poised to depart Brentford as a free agent next month.
Thomas Frank hails Charlie Goode after signing for Brentford
Brentford beat off interest from other English Football League clubs to sign Goode from Northampton Town until 2020.
Frank informed the official club website after signing Goode, “He has good ball quality, which we believe we can develop further within our style of play.” “The road through the non-league and lower leagues helps you grow as a person and character in ways that I really enjoy. “I believe Charlie can contribute something to the squad in that area, particularly considering his leadership abilities. “We are sure that he will grow and develop further with us over the coming years and that, in turn, he will help us go forward as a club too.”
Goode progressed through the non-league structure before joining Scunthorpe United in 2015. His 2020 transfer to Brentford, however, did not work out, with the centre-back appearing just 20 times in all competitions and spending time on loan at Sheffield United, Blackpool, and Wigan Athletic, with varied levels of success.
