shocking News: Tigers enter talks with uncontracted playmaker

After the Parramatta Eels released playmaker Daejarn Asi at the end of the season, a team is reportedly in talks with him for 2025.

Asi, who has played for the Parramatta Eels for the past two seasons after stints with the North Queensland Cowboys and New Zealand Warriors, was one of 11 players the club said goodbye to on their end-of-season awards night.

Despite his promising performance in 14 games this season, both as a centre or a half, the two-time Samoan international is still unsigned for the upcoming season, intending to pursue his rugby league career.

The 24-year-old has also participated in the NSW Cup and Queensland Cup, where he is waiting for regular first-team opportunity.

According to Rugby League Live, Asi and his management have started discussions with Castleford Tigers, a Super League franchise, regarding his signing and relocation abroad, as the team will not have a squad for the 2025 season.

Asi is eager to investigate his alternatives abroad in the United Kingdom, according to the publication, and the Tigers are optimistic that they will be able to sign him for the upcoming campaign.

He would probably join international quota players Jacob Miller, Elie El-Zakhem, Nixon Putt, Sylvester Namo, Tex Hoy, Liam Horne, and former Eels colleague Zach Cini on the team if he joined.

This comes at the same time as his old team is rumoured to be interested in signing Thomas Weaver of the Gold Coast Titans and Dean Hawkins of the South Sydney Rabbitohs in an attempt to locate a backup playmaker for players Mitchell Moses and Dylan Brown.
