TRENDING: Jamie Redknapp explains why a Wolves player against Man City made “completely incorrect” decisions.

Jamie Redknapp feels that Wolves’s Rayan Ait-Nouri made a “completely wrong” defensive play on the opening goal that Manchester City scored in their 5-1 loss on Saturday.

In the Premier League, Gary O’Neil’s team suffered a further defeat as Erling Haaland put an end to them.

Nine for City scored four goals, and late on Julian Alvarez added a fifth.

By taking advantage of an error made by Ederson, Hwang Hee-chan had made it 3-1 and given the visitors some hope. But Haaland’s fourth goal for City quickly ended Wolves’ aspirations.

For Wolves, it served as something of a footballing lesson at moments.

However, supporters are talking about several decisions that the Wanderers lost again. The first goal has drawn some criticism as Ian Wright criticised the decision to give City a penalty for Rayan Ait-Nouri’s tackle on Josko Gvardiol.

However, Jamie Redknapp felt that the Algerian had made a mistake in his defence.

Jamie Redknapp claims Rayan Ait-Nouri was unaware of Manchester City’s opening goal against Wolves.

The Etihad Stadium is a ground Wolves have had success on before, and Wolves did win the reverse fixture back in September.

But the visitors got off to a bad start, when Ait-Nouri was deemed to have fouled Gvardiol in the area.

A penalty was given, and the decision was upheld by VAR, with Haaland converting the spot-kick. Plenty believe this was a very harsh call against Wolves.

But Redknapp chose to focus on the defending of Ait-Nouri, believing City were right to be awarded a penalty. He said on Sky Sports: “He needs to, as a defender, his body shape is completely wrong, and he also needs to be checking his shoulder at all times to see what’s coming behind him.

“He’s done it once, that isn’t enough. Your head has to be on a swivel at all times. As that ball comes in, he sees him so late.”
