Sheffield Wednesday and Danny Rohl made history following Sunderland’s triumph.Sheffield Wednesday had a poor start to the season under Xisco Munoz.

He left without a single win in 12 games as manager, whereas Rohl finished with 15 in the Championship.

Sheffield Wednesday completed the season in 20th place after spending much of the season at the bottom of the table, with a three-point gap between themselves and Birmingham City in 22nd.

The Owls did not win a single league game until October, when they defeated Rotherham United 2-0, becoming the first Championship team to avoid relegation after going winless in their first 13 league games.

What now for Sheffield Wednesday?

Now, perhaps, Sheffield Wednesday’s true work begins.

After several years of languishing, the club now possesses an immensely significant asset in Rohl, as well as impetus to move forward.

Dejphon Chansiri and Rohl have busy summer plans. If Rohl is not satisfied, he may consider other opportunities.

Following this amazing reversal, Rohl will undoubtedly be in high demand.

Sunderland fans may hope for him to take over as manager this summer, following an outstanding away performance on Saturday.

But it appears like Rohl will make a serious effort with Sheffield Wednesday, who can finally breathe after this season’s upheaval.
