After making a strong debut at Belle Vue, Wakefield Trinity hooker Thomas Doyle was awarded a new two-year contract.
Since joining Dale Powell’s team in the off-season from Keighley Cougars, the 24-year-old has made 15 appearances and scored a try in last week’s 1895 Cup victory at Wembley.
Doyle’s original one-year contract has been extended, and he will now stay at Wakefield through at least the end of 2026.
Trinity’s Bradford Bulls youth graduate is thrilled about the chance to play in the Super League.
“I’m over the moon to be staying at Wakefield for the next two years,” he stated.
Since the beginning of the preseason, I have been desiring it. I wanted to stay longer as soon as I got to know the players and the coaching staff.
“Working with these knowledgeable teachers has truly improved my skill beyond recognition. My competitive nature and that of the rest of the team have really helped me to step up my game.
“I’m not the finished article yet but I’m looking forward to stepping up next year and challenging myself at the top level.”
Powell went on, “His hooking skills are constantly developing, and he has an amazing work ethic.
“We are delighted to extend his time at the club and I am confident we have a consistent Super League player who will continue to get better in our environment.”
