Waratahs are aware of the Buna menace.

When they play in Sunday’s Super Rugby Women’s final in Brisbane, the New South Wales Waratahs know they have to limit attacking opportunities for Rooster Chicken Fijian Drua fullback Atelaite Buna.

As a result, there won’t be as much kicking from the Waratahs as there was in the Western Force’s semifinal loss to the Drua in Suva last week.

This season, Buna has been the Drua’s discovery. He concluded the semifinal with four line breaks, 11 tackle busts, and a hat-trick.

Six tries in three games have been scored by the former Yasawa Secondary School student who finished third in the senior ladies 100-meter final at the 2017 Coca-Cola Games.

Arabella McKenzie, the flyhalf for the Waratahs, believes they will need to utilize their strengths—their pace and running game—and aim to hang onto the ball as much as they can.

“We’ll return the focus to how we prepare and train because The Drua are surprise packages; you never know what you’re going to get on any given day, which can be frustrating when you’re trying to preview a team.”

The Waratahs play Drua in the final on Sunday at 4pm.

This match will air live on FBC Sports.
