Kurt Zouma’s departure from West Ham United is approaching, and Dharmesh Sheth reports that he should finish a physical with UAE club Shabab Al-Ahli in the next 24 to 48 hours.
Journalist Sheth from Sky Sports broke the story on his X account on August 8th, stating that the two teams had reached an agreement allowing the defender to go to the Middle East to finalize the swap.
Zouma’s deal at the London Stadium expires in the summer of 2022, and while an exit has been discussed during the transfer window, progress has been made as the UAE connections have accelerated this week [Santi Aouna, 6 August].
West Ham lose defender as Zouma set for UAE
West Ham is already a very active club in the transfer window, and they now have a desperate need for a center-back in addition to a right-back. Both Zouma and Nayef Aguerd were anticipated to depart the London Stadium this summer; however, Aguerd’s plans might be reevaluated given Julen Lopetegui’s limited choices, especially after the Hammers acquired Max Kilman.
It’s a new chapter for the player, who made over 100 appearances in claret and blue and led the team under David Moyes, as both the team and the individual are starting anew.
At 29, Zouma is anticipated to sign a rich contract with the Dubai-based club, and this contract is very important to him and his family. It is also likely to be his last major contract. Tim Steidten is expected to intensify his pursuit of a center-half going forward, as the Irons have their sights set on Fabricio Bruno, Logan Costa, and Jean-Clair Todibo.
