In response to this summer’s links to Rangers forward Scott Wright, Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Rohl has responded.
According to the Daily Record on July 6, the EFL Championship team has increased their interest in signing the 26-year-old in recent days.
In a recent interview, Rohl did not rule out the narrative but he also declined to be forced into confirming his side’s interest, according to BBC Sheffield’s Rob Staton.
“I will not speak about names because it is nonsensical,” he declared. This market moves quite quickly. I know how I want to play in the upcoming season, and we know what we want.
“We are very ambitious for the upcoming season, so we know what we need to improve from the previous season. It’s then about finding the right pieces to make our squad stronger and stronger.”
It seems that Danny Rohl wants to sign Rangers forward Scott Wright.
According to Rohl’s answer to the Wright transfer rumors, Sheffield Wednesday is genuinely considering signing the attacker for the Gers.
The manager’s comments regarding the club’s goals for the upcoming season and his inability to refute the rumors suggest that the Owls are aggressively seeking the 26-year-old.
Rohl is keeping his options open and avoiding providing a firm response that would impede talks by not completely discounting the claim.
The manager’s cautious approach coupled with Sheffield Wednesday’s increased interest in recent days suggests that the Ibrox should soon hear from the Championship team with a bid.
It’s likely that the Owls are putting up an offer that they think would work for the player and the Gers, and it’s critical that the latter do not lower their asking price.
Sheffield Wednesday will attempt to get Wright’s signature before the transfer window shuts as talks move forward.
