With an instant return to the Premier League in mind, the Saints are eager to bolster their playing group in front of the upcoming campaign.Reports state that Joe Rodon, a Leeds United loanee, is one individual Russell Martin has recognised as someone who can bolster the team’s defence.

The Tottenham Hotspur player had a successful season while on loan at Elland Road, as he and Ethan Ampadu formed a strong central defensive tandem. Rodon is willing to leave Tottenham, thus Leeds is eager to work out a deal with them to retain him for the upcoming campaign.

But instead of another loan agreement, Spurs are probably going to request a transfer fee for Rodon; a possible fee of £15 million has been mentioned. Although Southampton is reportedly eager to talk to Tottenham and the player about a possible move to the south coast, that offer now seems a bit expensive for Leeds.

Although Rodon has expressed gratitude for his time at Leeds, it was expected that he would stay if the Whites had gained promotion. Nevertheless, the defender has goals of playing in the Premier League, so the opportunity would undoubtedly appeal to him. The Welshman will take a vacation and some time off to think over his options before returning to Tottenham in July to begin preseason training.
