Wolves now scouting ‘incredible’ player with more goal involvements than Kevin De Bruyne in 23/24

With the transfer window quickly approaching, Wolves have been linked with a number of quality players, including one described as ‘amazing’.

Gary O’Neil has performed admirably at Wolves, given the challenging circumstances.

The Wanderers were expected to fight for relegation in the Premier League, but their chances of reaching Europe were hampered by injuries.

O’Neil’s side has nearly accepted mid-table mediocrity, but after being eliminated from the FA Cup quarter-finals by Coventry City, there is a sense of what could have been for Wolves.

Fosun’s recent struggles can be attributed to injuries, as they did not fully bolster the team during the summer and January transfer windows.

This was due to spending constraints as fears of violating FFP requirements arose.

Fosun must now provide O’Neil with the finances he needs to rebuild his weakened squad; the Wanderers are reportedly scouting a promising midfield master.

Wolves scout Norwich City midfielder Gabriel Sara.

This season, Joao Gomes and Mario Lemina, a midfield combo, have been instrumental in their success.

Tommy Doyle, a loanee from Manchester City, has added class to the midfield, and O’Neil hopes to sign him permanently.

Wolves have plenty of options in midfield, but it hasn’t stopped them from looking at Norwich City’s Gabriel Sara.

The Wanderers, along with Crystal Palace, Bournemouth, and Nottingham Forest, have sent scouts to study the Brazilian striker, who has been a standout in the Championship this season.

The 24-year-old Norwich City player has surpassed Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne with 13 goals and 12 assists in 48 appearances, sparking interest in him.

Norwich have set a £30 million price tag for the “incredible” talent scout, Antonio Mango. The fee may prevent Wolves from making a deal, but the successful sale of Pedro Neto could make it possible.

What Gabriel Sara would bring to Wolves

Kenny McClean, Sara’s Norwich teammate, describes him as the “full package” with a strong all-round game in the second tier.

David Wagner’s midfield metronome has destroyed the division with his sheer talent, which includes the ability to glide forward with the ball, execute progressive passes, and score.

The table below shows Sara’s statistics this season, as well as his position among Championship midfielders.

Gabriel Sara 23/24 Championship per 90 stats Statistic Percentile rank
Non-penalty goals 0.28 Top 5%
Assists 0.26 Top 5%
Progressive passes 6.77 Top 8%
Shot-creating actions 4.84 Top 5%

As a result of his outstanding efforts, the small playmaker was nominated to the Championship Team of the Season and has a promising future ahead of him.

Sara will almost surely leave Carrow Road if Norwich remain in the second division, and given Wolves’ need for a player to contribute more goals from midfield, the 24-year-old would be a wise investment.
